Dr Michelle Byrnes is a Clinical Neuroscientist after completing a Bachelor of Science degree (Triple major in Psychology, Pharmacology and Physiology, 1st Class Honours) and PhD in Neuroscience; and a Clinical Psychologist after completing a Masters of Psychology (Clinical) degree and a 2nd PhD in Clinical Psychology. Dr Byrnes has a special interest in the fields of neuroplasticity, neurorehabilitation and the use of integrated cognitive and psychosocial therapeutic programs to assist individuals after neurotrauma (Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury and Chemotherapy), after diagnosis of a neurological disorder (Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease), and adults and children with attention, working memory and learning difficulties. She is currently the Head of the Clinical Psychology Research Unit at the Western Australian Neuroscience Research Institute and is the Director and Owner of her own Clinical Psychology private practice entitled “Grow Your Life”. She is skilled in brain imaging techniques (e.g., Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Functional MRI), neuropsychological (cognitive and executive) assessment and treatment; psycho-educational assessment and treatment; and psychosocial assessment and treatment. She is passionate about providing integrated cognitive and psychological therapeutic programs which are individually designed to cater for each client and assist them to make meaningful and valued changes to their life. She has a vast academic and clinical Neuroscience and Clinical Psychology background and is an author of over 40 peer reviewed journal articles which ensures that the integrated therapeutic programs that she designs and provides for each client are both effective and evidence-based.
